7 Budget Ways to Spend Valentine's Day
Valentine’s Day is the one day of the year to show your significant other how much they mean to you. It’s a day stereotyped with overly priced expensive gestures just to show how much you care. Don’t fall into the trap of blowing the bank on an unoriginal dinner reservation or a trip to Fringe this year. Here at Liquor Barons Carlisle, we have a few ideas up our sleeves your bae just how much they mean to you that will keep your wallet and the love in the room as full as possible.
1. Cubby House Picnic
This one is super basic and only requires a bit of furniture moving before your partner gets home. Grab yourself some CANDY PAINT Cabernet Sauvignon - A wine designed to be enjoyed on night’s like this and some fancy charcuterie and cheeses. Push back the couch a few metres and get yourself a mattress to throw on the floor. Use your architecture\engineering degree or lack there of, to design an effective sheet teepee style over the mattress and connected up to the tv using a lot of masking tape and string. A few strategically placed candles (away from the sheet) will really set your efforts off for the reveal when they walk in the door.

If neither of you know how to dance, chuck on some instructional videos on youtube and follow along for a fun night in!

3. Bob Ross Art Night
This is a winner. Watch a few Bob Ross videos on Youtube to get an idea what you’re in for. Pick a good episode that doesn’t require too much work to the canvas before you begin painting. Pick up two budget easels and canvases along with the required paints and brushes used in the episode. *This is key to your result looking any good at all. Have it all set up with a drop sheet or newspapers on the floor beneath and a side table with a bottle of Green Fairy Czech Absinth (Picasso’s fave), a few shot glasses, sugar cubes and thin spoon to melt the sugar on before dropping it in your shots. If you love your masterpieces you can hang them together on the wall as a constant reminder of your lovely evening in together.

4. Star Gazing Roof top Picnic
Setting a picnic up on your roof is a pretty unconventional and memorable move. Don’t forget to bring plenty of cushions and pillows so its somewhat comfortable up there. Something about the roof screams some beers and if you’re partner is the type to think this is a good idea, chances are beer is the right pick. We currently have local brewery Nail Brewing’s MVP on Sale through Feb as our Beer of the Month. With it’s delicious, peachy notes, it’s the perfect session ale to enjoy roof-side with your bae. If you live in an area with a lot of light pollution and you really want to get your gaze on, you might have to take a bit of a trip a little way out of town. Travelling about 45 mins out of Perth heading East should be far enough to see the Milky Way in all it’s glory. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for UFOs.

Because you’re not preparing dinner, make some effort and set up a romantic dining table for two with a candle and flowers. Set the table properly with cutlery, napkins and glassware. Splurge an extra $10 dollars than you normally would by ordering an entree, main, and dessert from 3 seperate locations. Let your partner pick their ultimate pick off the list for each course. A bottle or 2 of CANDY PAINT Chardonnay from the Great Southern will go nicely with most dishes on the menu and provide a bit of conversation fuel while you wait in between each course for the next to arrive.

Fancy yourself a bit of a Gordon Ramsey or Nigella Lawson in the kitchen? It’s time to put your money where your mouth is. While you’re there you both can pick up some cocktail ingredients too. Get creative and try to pair your dishes with your drinks. One thing you’ll definitely need is our Spirit of the Month - Tito’s Handmade Vodka on SALE over the Valentine’s Day period. For some ideas on what to make, take a look at some of these;
The idea here is simple. You and your partner take turns at cooking the ultimate dessert of the night. While one is cooking, the other should be busy mixing the perfect cocktail to accompany their next dish or to enjoy as you wait for it to be ready. Winner takes all, however you interpret the concept.

Play some smooth jazz in the background and keep a bottle or two of a Valentine’s Day classic - Moet & Chandon NV champagne chilling on ice besides the board.
